Moro Oranges, citrus jewels native to magnificent Sicily, represent excellence in the Rutaceae family. Grown with passion and dedication in the sunny lands between Syracuse and Lentini, these oranges encapsulate the authentic essence of the Mediterranean. The enchanting coloring of the flesh, ranging from ruby red to burgundy, is a gift of nature enriched by the presence of anthocyanins, those plant pigments typically found in berries. With a slightly smaller diameter than traditional oranges (6-8 cm), Moro Oranges are true works of art from nature. On the palate, Moro Sicilian Oranges, famous perr their characteristically wine-red flesh, offer a pleasant bitter note harmonized by a refreshing, citrusy sweetness. Their versatility makes them suitable not only for enjoying on their own but also for creating both savory and sweet drinks and dishes. The difference between Moro oranges and common oranges becomes obvious when opening them. The intensely colored flesh of the Moro Orange, with hues ranging from red to purple, is a visual and culinary poem. The less acidic flavor, enhanced by a fruity sweetness and a slight bitterness, makes it a unique sensory experience. Moro Red Oranges have roots in the rich Sicilian soil and the area's ancient agricultural tradition. Sicily, particularly between Syracuse and Lentini, is the cradle of these citrus delicacies. Here, the variable Mediterranean climate, with hot days and cool nights, helps develop the characteristic color and flavor of Moro Oranges. Typically, these Sicilian delicacies are in season from December to March. Careful harvesting, done by hand to preserve their delicacy, takes place in these striking citrus fields.
