Bastardoni prickly pears, grown in the fertile soils between Catania and Syracuse, are one of the most prized varieties of this typical Sicilian fruit. They are distinguished by being larger, sweeter and tastier than the early Indian figs, and are particularly prized for their soft and juicy flesh, virtually seedless, making them a true delicacy. Bastardoni are harvested later than the early fruits, and the extra time spent on the plant allows them to develop a richer and more intense flavor, with sugary notes that make them ideal both for fresh consumption and for making desserts and preserves. The cultivation process, along soils kissed by the sun and sea breezes between the provinces of Catania and Syracuse, guarantees fruits of the highest quality, with a perfect balance of sweetness and freshness. Rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, Bastardoni prickly pears also offer numerous health benefits, aiding digestion and hydration, as well as being a natural source of fiber. Thanks to their seedless pulp, they are especially popular with those looking for a fruit that is tasty but also easy to enjoy.
