World-famous and prized for its uniqueness, artisanal chocolate from Modica has an unmistakable aroma, a crumbly texture, and a raw appearance. Dark in color, the black gold of Modica so they call it, it is made using an ancient technique that dates back to the 16th century, during Spanish rule. It was the Hispanics who imported the first cocoa beans to the island and introduced the processing of the product to the County of Modica having understood the potential and economic value of the food. Modica chocolate, of Iberian import, holds the secrets of the Master Artisans who have been handing down the ancient recipe and sweet crispness since 1746. For four generations, for almost a century, our trusted confectionery has been making its chocolate with the best raw materials, respecting the ancient process by balancing tastes and shapes with alchemy.
